Just like every Tuesday, I will today be covering a new Google feature: The search engine just rolled out its Instant Preview feature, which allows you to preview a page right from the SERPS, by clicking a magnificent glass located on the right of each listing. While this isn’t a groundbreaking move, as I remember several minor search engines boosting a similar feature years ago, this is certainly a useful addition that allows users to save some time on clicking back and forth.

What does it mean for you? Well, it emphasizes the need for a nice look and feel rather than some ugly junk design, as if people don’t like what they’re seeing in preview, they won’t be clicking on your site, which will result in drop in traffic. So I would suggest previewing all your sites and looking at competitors, from a user point of view, which should give you an idea about what you might need to improve to make sure users click your listings.
