It seems that Bing has been pretty busy lately as there hasn’t been one week without some kind of announcement coming from MSN’s labs. This week, they launched a new new feature called People Recommendations that can be found in Bing Social (as you might suspect this is the section where Bing focuses on social media results).

This new function is supposed to recommend you people to follow on Twitter based on your searches. For example, if you type “White House” in the search field you will find in the right column links to Twitter accounts for the White House and the President.

So I’ve decided to give it a try and typed Mcintoshmarketing, to see if Bill would show up – he has more than 43,000 followers after all – but nothing came up.  I also typed the name of one of my website that gets quite a lot of traffic and nothing showed up as well. However whenever I typed something showbiz related, I got right away twitter suggestions for luminaries such as Lindsey Lohan and Kim Kardashian.

What is this telling us? So far, that Bing’s People Recommendations looks more like a PR tool for the rich and famous than a truly useful application for you and me. Hopefully this is just a spider issue and more search results will roll out in the following weeks.
