Google adds Brands, Stores and Types to SERPS

I guess there isn’t one week without Google rolling out a new feature. Starting this week, you should start seeing links for Brands, Stores and Types at the top of your search result page when looking for a product.

For example, if you’re looking for a digital camera, you can see 5 links for camera brands, 5 links for stores where you can buy cameras and 5 links for popular types of digital cameras (waterproof, compact, etc …).

Google Goes Autocomplete

Google just renamed its Google Suggest instant functionality Google Autocomplete. While this is far from being a groundbreaking announcement, I just wanted to take that opportunity to warn you about an issue occurring with Autocomplete.

Bing becomes number 2

If you read my previous posts, you might have noticed that the Yahoo/Bing environment has been evolving at a fast pace, with Bing first taking over Yahoo’s organic results before swallowing the Overture pay-per-click platform in October.

Yahoo Organic Search Transition Now Complete

Yahoo just announced today in its blog that the transition of its organic results to the MSN/Bing platform is now complete. This means that, as of today, the Yahoo search engine results are getting powered by MSN’s Bing so you will get similar rankings in both search engines. This should make your search engine optimization effort easier since you will only have to focus on Google and MSN/Yahoo instead of 3 search engines.
